TED Talks

Here are some interesting talks:

Barefoot College – Bunker Roy, a highly educated man from India seeks to draw value from local villagers.  This will transform your view on what is possible.

Kahn Academy – Started by Salman Kahn as a way to help his nephew and niece with their homework.  It has expanded to an extensive online educational system and has the educational system rethinking how we do school.

Ken Robinson – My friends in education drool over this fellow.  He has several talks, but this one makes my heart leap. It is entitled How School Kills Creativity.

Entrepreneurship for Kids – Cameron Herold, a lifelong, second generation entrepreneur who explains the value of entrepreneurship and the many things we can learn from this.  I think this option goes unnoticed in our society.

The Power of Introverts – Susan Cain, dry and witty, highlights the value of introverts to the world.  Thank you.

Malcolm Gladwell – One of my favorite storytellers today, Gladwell weaves interesting thoughts together.

The Happiness Advantage – Shawn Achor, a native Texan goes to Harvard undergrad and discovers that the best in the world are very unhappy.  Fascinated by this, Shawn began to look into the field known as positive psychology.

Simon Sinek – How Great Leaders Inspire Action – In this unusually bad quality recording, Simon unpacks a then new idea he has about three golden circles – why, how and what.  He highlights how we are driven by the why.  I am told this TED talk led to Simon writing a very interesting book on the topic that we are motivated by why, and therefore we should always be asking the question, and more importantly, answering it for those we are inviting into something.  So, let me ask you, do you know the why behind what you do?
